Long time, no blog! There are a million reasons why blogging had temporarily ceased, some are valid, some are excuses, and there’s also something new in the works which I’m really excited about that I can hopefully reveal next month. But, I’m right here, right now, and wanted to share this long overdue thank you to Chickpea Magazine for including an essay and photography of mine in their Summer issue. If you’re unfamiliar with Chickpea Magazine, please get acquainted, it’s one of my favorites and few publications in which I’ve a subscription. It’s a quarterly vegan magazine with lots of stories on travel, life, recipes, DIY projects, and beautiful hand lettering but it can be appreciated by the vegan-curious and non-vegans that happen to like pretty things. It is printed on high quality paper, the kind of magazine you don’t want to toss in the recycle bin when you’re done with it, I can’t wait to have it in my hands. If the print subscription price is too cost prohibitive, definitely go for the digital subscription, if you can. The Summer issue is being printed now and will ship out soon, you can still pre-order, or order later, if you’d like to check out my work and the work of several people I really admire. If you can still order the Spring 16 issue, grab it as well, it was life affirming for me.
My essay was written about the first real family vacation after I transitioned to veganism and my son’s experience with Camp Kindness at Catskill Animal Sanctuary and the role it played helping some of my family members transition to veganism as well. There’s also a list of our favorite places and things to do in the Saugerties/Woodstock/Hudson Valley area of New York. We got back from our third vacation there last month and it still continues to be my favorite vacation destination. It’s full of small, quaint towns, so much natural beauty, and vegan gems. I’ll need to write about an actual post on our new discoveries this time around. In the meantime, here’s a peek at my contribution to the Summer 16 issue of Chickpea.
