There’s something about the classic combo of peanut butter and jelly that we just don’t seem to ever outgrow. This is a slightly more evolved version from the white bread with the crusts cut off mess that I grew up on. But the same childlike happiness still applies. This is also our go-to flavor combo […]

“May our hearts overcome our appetites” – Unknown
Peace begins on our plate. Why fill our bodies with suffering and death when we can fuel them with the endless healing plant foods nature provides for us right from the earth? There’s a reason plant foods are so beautiful in their natural state. Although veganism is not a diet but a social justice movement, the plant-based diet is the ONLY diet scientifically proven to prevent, treat, and in many cases reverse, heart disease and the other top 15 killer diseases in the US. I encourage you to watch the non-graphic Forks Over Knives, Food Matters, soon to be released What The Health, and Cowspiracy, or read How Not To Die by Dr. Michael Greger, to find out why it’s in our own best interest to eat plant-exclusively. Veganism is a win-win for the animals, our planet, and ourselves. The only thing you’ll be giving up is the cruelty.
Caramel Apples – Refined Sugar-Free
There are ways to make traditional vegan caramel that involve lots of time at the stove with a candy thermometer and loads of sugar and refined fats, and in my case, seem to be hit or miss due to the temperamental nature of candy making. The funny thing is, I actually learned to make traditional […]
Refined-Sugar Free, Mint Hot Cocoa
I had a 3 month stint on the Raw Til 4, 80/10/10-ish raw foods diet. I’ll spare you the details of my experience, mostly all good, but one thing for sure I can say is that it eliminated my cravings for sweets for the first time in my life. I’m no longer attempting a fully […]
Fennel + Blueberry + Orange Zest Scones
I don’t know what it is about fennel but I want to add it in to places it doesn’t belong. There’s something about that mild licorice-like flavor that gets me, despite not being the biggest fan of black licorice. Fennel in a pastry just felt like a logical move. It’s subtle here, but it works, […]
Orange Julian Smoothie
A healthy play on the old Orange Julius drinks from the mall food court, named after my son instead. But in all honesty, I haven’t had an Orange Julius in maybe 30 years and can’t quite recall what it tastes like, so if nothing else, it’s just a delicious and creamy orange citrus smoothie to […]
White Bean & Romaine Soup
A hearty soup that works well during both the summer when the garden, or local farmer’s market, is overflowing with abundance of fresh leafy greens or during the winter to help take the edge off the chill in the air. Fennel seeds give this a rustic Italian feel, full of comfort. Feel free to replace […]
Food Insp: Fully Raw Pumpkin Pie [link to recipe]
I had a brief period where I did the Raw til 4 diet a try with hopes of transitioning to fully raw. Needless to say, I never made it but I’m happy I tried. After all, this pumpkin pie from Fully Raw Kristina never would have happened! It was enjoyed by the entire, very much […]

Savory Cakes: Mushroom & Spinach Pancakes with Rosemary Gravy
Sweets rule everything around me in the most delicious and unfortunate way but that’s not the case for my husband who gravitates to the savory breakfast items. So this was created specifically with him in mind and inspired by my son’s breakfast staple: a side of mushrooms with everything. These pancakes are unsweetened and fluffy, […]
